Navy personnel detected the beacon during a routine patrol and reached the vessel before its remaining power reserves were exhausted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Navy officials, the freighter had also sustained minor damage to its life-support systems. Patrol technicians stabilized the vessel long enough for its crew to be transferred safely, then established a controlled tow arrangement toward an authorized repair facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The freighter\u2019s cargo was inspected and found to contain ordinary commercial goods. No hazardous materials, weapons, or restricted cargo were involved in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA distress beacon is only useful when it is correctly registered, maintained, and activated without delay,\u201d a Navy spokesperson said. \u201cThe crew followed proper emergency procedure, and that gave our personnel the opportunity to respond in time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All civilian crew members are reported to be in good condition.
