Speakers emphasized that the preservation of history should not be limited to grand monuments in the Core Worlds, but should include local archives, archaeological sites, sacred places, and community landmarks throughout the Empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several senators noted that smaller systems often lack the resources to assess or preserve discoveries before they are damaged by construction, environmental conditions, or theft. Others argued that preservation programs must respect local traditions and civil institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHistory belongs to those who inherit it, but it can be lost before it is ever understood,\u201d one senator said. \u201cThe Empire has a duty to ensure that heritage is not reserved only for worlds wealthy enough to protect it themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Antiquities has been asked to provide a preliminary assessment of preservation needs and available support programs.
