CORUSCANT — Senators from across the Empire have called for stronger preservation support for historic sites threatened by development, weather damage, neglect, and the simple passage of time.

The discussion followed renewed public interest in the Lost Museum discovered beneath Coruscant. Speakers emphasized that the preservation of history should not be limited to grand monuments in the Core Worlds, but should include local archives, archaeological sites, sacred places, and community landmarks throughout the Empire.

Several senators noted that smaller systems often lack the resources to assess or preserve discoveries before they are damaged by construction, environmental conditions, or theft. Others argued that preservation programs must respect local traditions and civil institutions.

“History belongs to those who inherit it, but it can be lost before it is ever understood,” one senator said. “The Empire has a duty to ensure that heritage is not reserved only for worlds wealthy enough to protect it themselves.”

The Ministry of Antiquities has been asked to provide a preliminary assessment of preservation needs and available support programs. No new legislation has yet been introduced.

The matter is expected to return to the Senate after the Ministry completes its review.
