SCIMITAR ASSAULT BOMBERS DISPATCHED TO FRONTLINE NAVAL AND STARFIGHTER CORPS UNITS

CORUSCANT — The Ministry of War has begun dispatching Scimitar assault bombers to Imperial Navy and Imperial Starfighter Corps units operating in active conflict zones, expanding the availability of one of the Empire’s most capable conventional strikecraft.

The Scimitar is a heavy short-range assault bomber designed by Sienar Fleet Systems as a more survivable and responsive successor to the standard TIE/sa bomber. Though often informally called the “TIE Scimitar,” the craft is not a conventional member of the TIE line. Its elongated armored fuselage, powerful shield array, heavy ordnance capacity, and enhanced atmospheric handling make it a distinct assault-bomber platform in its own right.

Built for precision strikes against fortified ground positions, hardened infrastructure, capital-ship systems, and hostile installations, the Scimitar combines a substantial warhead load with greater speed and protection than earlier Imperial bombers. Its forward crew module is also designed to separate from the main hull in an emergency, improving pilot survivability during high-risk operations.

Naval units will receive the standard carrier-based Scimitar configuration, optimized for deployment from Imperial warships and forward operating bases. The Imperial Starfighter Corps variant incorporates a hyperdrive, allowing it to conduct independent long-range strike, escort, and rapid-response missions beyond the range of carrier support.

“The Scimitar gives Imperial commanders a bomber capable of reaching the target, surviving the approach, and delivering decisive force with precision,” a Ministry of War spokesperson stated. “Its assignment to frontline formations reflects the Empire’s continuing investment in the protection of its personnel and the effectiveness of its operations.”

Initial deliveries are being directed to formations in active conflict zones. The Ministry of War has not released unit designations or deployment locations.
