Imperial Intelligence

Bureaus

Bureau of Operations

line

Generally referred to as ‘the Bureau’, they deal with the covert operations of Imperial Intelligence. From espionage to assassination, it all falls into the responsibility of this Bureau.

Surveillance

Surveillance is a relatively small branch, and keeps an eye on potential external threats to the Empire. They have access to enormous amounts of information about their targets, and are able to use this to keep a close watch on them. They are usually well trained in many skills, including combat, as they usually won’t have time to call for help in the field. They are allowed to make arrests if it is in the best interests of the Empire – if an arrest is not feasible, then they can stop the suspect in any way they believe necessary.

Infiltration

This branch is the traditional spy branch – they infiltrate enemy bases, installations, groups, systems etc. and feed information back to the Empire. Well trained, the agents of Infiltration often act alone as it is the safest way. They are given only limited knowledge of their missions so they can reveal comparatively little should they be captured. All Infiltration agents are given suicide pills, and are expected to use them should they need to. They also employ double agents, who will take part in activities against the Empire. The information these agents gain is often worth the actions they took.

Renik

Not to be confused with IntSec, Renik deals with enemy spy rings outside of Imperial Intelligence. If a spy operation is seen as potentially useful, then they may manipulate it to feed false information to the enemy or to lead the Empire to enemy bases etc. If the spy operation is not useful, it will be shut down.

Diplomatic Services (DiploServ)

DiploServ provides many things to the Empire – they may assign experts on a certain planet to a Moff, or trade experts to a Minister. They will generally identify themselves as members of DiploServ, unless on an actual mission into foreign territory. DiploServ agents often accompany members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to other governments, and will act as dignitaries whilst gathering information.

Destabilisation (Destab)

Destab is a very secretive branch, which employs methods which may be seen as ‘underhand’. It generally operates in foreign territory to destabilise enemy governments and military. It also has operations within the Empire to politically remove potential Imperial opponents who would cause damage if they were killed.

Assassination

This branch removes potential enemies by assassinating them, from low-level politicians to leaders of anti-Imperial groups. They are taught to use everything to their advantage and to use all the tricks they know to eliminate their target. Assassination is a well-respected branch with a high success rate, although it demands a lot of patience – it may take months to get a clear shot at a target.
