The Imperial OverSector is considered the political and economic heart of the Empire. It is in this sector where major decisions affecting the entire Galaxy are made by the Emperor and his High Command staff on Imperial Centre. Very loyal and well defended, it is a proud symbol of the Galactic Empire. The OverSector contains a wide range of different worlds, from huge fully-urbanised bodies to sinkhole planets. As well as the Galactic capitol and centre of Government - Imperial Centre - the Sector is home to various planets of importance.
The Empress Teta system, a group of planets unified by Teta and named in her honour, has seen a large-scale battle between Jedi and Sith forces during the time of the Old Republic. Historians believe that it was the closest system to the Galactic Core to be attacked during the Republic’s reign before the Clone Wars. It is also a major source of carbonite, used to store tibanna gas.
Also in the sector is the planet of Utapau, where the Separatist leader General Grievous was tracked down and killed by Republic forces. The beautiful world of Chandrila also resides in the Imperial OverSector – renowned for its lush forests and sparkling oceans, this world is very popular among higher class tourists.
The Imperial OverSector shares the Galactic Capitol of Imperial Centre. The planet is one huge city, with only small areas of land which have not been built upon (perhaps the most famous of these are the snow-topped Manarai Mountains). The planet once contained large oceans, but as the buildings expanded, these were drained (initially to make room for more buildings) and then purified and stored in vast underground tanks. It is from these huge storage facilities where the majority of citizens on Imperial Centre obtain their water supply. There are also huge atmospheric dampeners to remove the vast quantities of carbon dioxide which the inhabitants and factories of Imperial Centre produce.
When Emperor Palpatine assumed the Throne, he ordered the construction of several vast planetary shield generators to help protect the planet, and had huge security systems installed all over the planet to help prevent crime. Imperial Centre is also home to some of the Galaxy’s most famous buildings, centres of learning and government and attractions, including the Imperial Palace, the Imperial Senate Building, various governmental headquarters buildings, the Galactic Museum, the Imperial Museum, the University of Coruscant, the Galaxies Opera House, the Jedi Temple, Monument Park and the Manarai restaurant – one of the most expensive but popular restaurants in the Galaxy. But below the lights of the upper levels of Imperial Centre lies the planet’s darkest areas, known as the ‘Sub-Levels’. It is rumoured that these areas are populated by outcasts and mutants, and most wise citizens choose to avoid this area.
Imperial Centre is bustling with life and activity, and is certainly an experience that any visitor or inhabitant will ever forget.
