Ministry of Commerce
The Ministry of Commerce oversees and regulates all forms of galactic trade, commercial activity, and economic policy across the Galactic Empire. It is responsible for establishing uniform trade standards, issuing licenses and permits, and ensuring the efficient movement of goods and resources between sectors.
Following the Clone Wars and the rise of the New Order, the Ministry was restructured to bring order and accountability to the previously chaotic galactic marketplace. It works to eliminate inefficiencies, combat smuggling and black-market operations, and align commercial interests with the strategic needs of the Empire.
Imperial Trade and Commerce Authority
The Imperial Trade and Commerce Authority serves as the Ministry’s primary enforcement and regulatory arm. It supervises day-to-day commercial operations, enforces trade laws, and coordinates with other agencies to maintain fair and secure markets across Imperial space.
Trade Federation
The nationalized Trade Federation now operates as a state-controlled entity under the Ministry. It is responsible for major shipping lanes, bulk resource transport, and critical supply logistics, ensuring that essential goods flow reliably to support both civilian needs and Imperial military requirements.
Imperial Bureau of Standards
The Imperial Bureau of Standards is responsible for establishing and enforcing uniform technical, manufacturing, and quality standards across the Empire. It regulates product specifications, measurement systems, safety protocols, and industrial practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and interoperability of goods produced or traded within Imperial space. The Bureau works to eliminate substandard or dangerous products while supporting efficient mass production for the New Order’s industrial and military goals.
The Ministry of Commerce works closely with the Coalition for Progress’s Commerce Group to promote economic development and alignment with Imperial priorities. Through centralized planning and strict regulation, it maintains economic stability, supports Imperial industry, and ensures that commerce serves the greater goals of security and unity under the New Order.
The Minister of Commerce reports directly to the Ruling Council and holds authority over trade law, economic regulation, commercial oversight, and the operations of all subordinate agencies throughout the galaxy.
