Ministry of Transportation
The Ministry of Transportation, commonly referred to as the Space Ministry, is responsible for the regulation, maintenance, and oversight of all civilian and commercial hyperspace travel, shipping routes, space traffic, and related services across the Galactic Empire. It ensures the safe, efficient, and secure movement of goods, passengers, and vessels throughout Imperial space while supporting military logistics when required.
Reorganized under the New Order, the Ministry centralized control over hyperspace infrastructure and interstellar commerce, replacing the fragmented agencies of the late Republic.
The Ministry works closely with the Imperial Navy to prioritize military traffic and secure vital routes while enforcing strict regulations on civilian shipping to prevent smuggling and maintain order. Through disciplined oversight and infrastructure development, it keeps the Empire’s vast network of trade lanes operational and contributes to galactic stability.
Bureau of Ships and Services (BoSS)
The Bureau of Ships and Services (BoSS) is the primary agency responsible for starship registration, pilot licensing, transponder code assignment, and safety inspections. It maintains comprehensive records of all registered vessels and captains, ensuring compliance with Imperial standards and facilitating law enforcement and customs operations. BoSS datapads and encoded registries allow officials to verify ship legality and track movements across the galaxy.
Imperial Survey Corps
The Imperial Survey Corps is tasked with exploring and mapping uncharted regions of the galaxy, including Wild Space and the fringes of the Unknown Regions. It updates hyperspace charts, identifies new resources and habitable worlds, and supports Imperial expansion by providing critical astrographical data to the Navy and other agencies.
Space Rescue Corps
The Space Rescue Corps handles emergency response, search and rescue operations, and disaster relief in space. It responds to distress signals, assists vessels in peril, and conducts recovery missions for stranded crews or survivors of space incidents. The Corps operates specialized rescue craft and works to maintain the safety of travelers across Imperial shipping lanes.
The Minister of Transportation reports directly to the Ruling Council and holds authority over all space traffic regulation, hyperspace infrastructure, and the operations of the Bureau of Ships and Services, Imperial Survey Corps, and Space Rescue Corps throughout the galaxy.
